The Lakes Football Club was formed when Lake King merged with Lakes Districts in 2001. The club competes in the Ravensthorpe & Districts Football Association.

Lakes draws its players from Lake King and Lake Varley. The club’s fourth and most recent premiership in 2011 was claimed by means of an 11.12 (78) to 7.11 (53) grand final defeat of Ravensthorpe Tigers.

Lake King is a town in the Eastern Wheatbelt region of WA, located 464 km from Perth along State Route 107 between Wagin and Ravensthorpe. Lake King is named after a nearby lake which in turn was named after the Surveyor General of WA, Henry Sandford King. The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops.
