The Lions won the first two premierships in the league, which superseded the Goomalling and Districts Football Association in 1973.

Toodyay is a town on the Avon River in the Wheatbelt region of WA, located 85 km northeast of Perth. The first European settlement occurred in the area in 1836. The meaning of the name is uncertain, although it is indigenous Noongar in origin. The Shire of Toodyay’s official history gives the meaning as “place of plenty”.
