Our great club was formed in 1952 as a fourth team entering the then GNFA. Founded by Owen (Speed) Jones and Bernie Clune, a tradition of hard work and persistence was created which remains today. The early years were tough with few wins but the strength and determination shown by those early players and leaders led the mighty Bulldogs into much success in more recent times. Initially playing in black and gold, the red and white we proudly wear today was adopted in 1953 after a donation from the South Fremantle Football Club. The colours, the symbol of the tough bulldog and the attitude of persistence in the face of adversity still serve our great club today. Generations of local families have forged their mark upon our club and created an environment we can all be proud of.
We are also a unique club in the region in that we are the only one which has the junior and senior clubs affiliated as one. We do not create a distinction – our juniors are just as important to us as the seniors! After all, without a strong junior group, a club has no future. Our senior players and staff work alongside our juniors to ensure that they feel part of a team environment and we actively encourage all families to become involved in the club.
Many dedicated men and women, from 1952 to today, have made Towns Football Club what it is today, their blood, sweat and tears, dedication and loyalty have forged a bond that only Towns Football Club supporters can understand. We look forward to a new generation who will leave their mark upon this great club.
