The Chapman Valley Football Club was a founder member of the Great Northern Football League in 1961.

The Royals were the first GNFL team to win 3 consecutive senior flags, a feat they achieved between 1972 and 1974.

Nabawa is a small town in the Mid West region of WA, located 463 km north of Perth and 42 km northeast of Geraldton. Nabawa derives its name from Nabawar Pool, a pool in the Chapman River first recorded by a surveyor in 1857. This Aboriginal word is said to mean “camp far away”.
