Founded in 1956, the Fortescue National Football League, named after the Fortescue River, is based in the Pilbara region of WA. It features 3 clubs (Panthers, Tigers, Townsite Eagles) from the town of Tom Price and one (Saints) from Paraburdoo.

Tom Price is a mining town in the Pilbara region of WA. The town is located inland, at the edge of the Hamersley Range. Tom Price is the highest town above sea level (747 metres) in WA, and is consequently dubbed “Top Town in WA”. The town is named after Thomas Moore Price, the vice-president of the USA based steel company Kaiser Steel.
