Location
Esperance is a town in the Goldfields–Esperance region of WA, on the Southern Ocean coastline. It is located 720 km east-southeast of Perth and 391 km south of Kalgoorlie. Its major industries are tourism, agriculture and fishing. The town is named after the French ship, the Espérance, commanded by Jean-Michel Huon de Kermadec (1748-1793). Espérance is French for “hope”.
