The Windermere Sports Club was formed in the 1970s in the expanding Werribee suburb called ‘Windermere’ which was later changed to Wyndhamvale. The change was made as there was a suburb called ‘Windermere’ already in Ballarat.
It was initially a junior football club which entered teams in the Western Suburban Football League. This continued until 1985, when the Sports Club fielded a senior team in the Reserve Division of the WSFL. The Club joined the Western Region Football League (now the WFNL) in 1999.
