About
Founded in 1908, the University Blacks currently field 4 teams in the VAFA – the Seniors, Reserves, The Phoenix (Thirds) and Under 19s.
In 2014, both the Seniors and Reserves sides won their respective premierships, with the Seniors having also finished on top of the ladder. With recent on-field success and a culture of hard work, the Uni Blacks is an ideal place for an ambitious football to ply his trade.
In 2012 AFL Hall of Fame member and Uni Blacks Director of Coaching David Parkin was quoted in The Age as saying, “I’d have to say the culture at the Blacks is the best culture of any footy club I’ve been involved with, even Hawthorn”.
The Blacks is the place to be whatever your age, standard, or football aspirations. One important benefit is the unparalleled past player and supporter network that stands ready to assist our players via our Player Welfare Group. Another is our superb medical set up, a third the chance to play home games on the beautiful Melbourne University main oval.
We look forward to meeting you, and to you discovering that deciding on being a Blacker will be one of best decisions you will make in your life.
