Established in 1881, the Newstead Kangaroos Football Club competes in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League (MCDFNL).

Location
Newstead is a town in Victoria, situated along the Loddon River, 17 km from Castlemaine and 32 km from Maryborough. The town takes its name from the Newstead Hotel, which was built in the 1850s. Newstead has many festivals and folk events, including the annual Newstead Live Music Festival.
