Location
Maryborough is a town in Victoria, on the Pyrenees Highway, 58 km north of Ballarat and 48 km west of Castlemaine. Originally known as Simsons, it was renamed Maryborough by gold commissioner James Daly after his County Cork, Ireland birthplace. Maryborough hosts the annual Highland Gathering on New Year’s Day.
