The Buninyong Football Netball Club is a very successful, fun and vibrant family sporting club, situated at the base of Mount Buninyong.
Playing in the Central Highlands Football League, the club competes against teams from Country Victoria.
The club is home to 2 Senior Football Teams, 4 Senior Netball Teams, 4 Junior Football Teams and 4 Junior Netball Teams and has developed many local sporting talents over the years.
History
The Buninyong Football Club was established on 12 June 1875 after accepting a challenge from the Ballarat Football Club.
The club played in a district competition until 1972 when it joined the Ballarat & Bacchus Marsh Football League as a founding member. In 1979 the VCFL formed the Central Highlands League, where we have played ever since. In 1987 a netball club was formed.
In 2007 the club moved from its original home at Royal Park to the newly built present facility at the Buninyong Community Reserve and went from the Buninyong “Bunnies” to the Buninyong “Bombers”.

Location
Buninyong is a town in Victoria, located 10 km south of Ballarat and 97 km northwest of Melbourne. The name originates from an indigenous word said to mean “man lying on his back with his knees raised”, which is in reference to the shape of Mount Buninyong.
