The Kyabram Bombers were a foundation club in the Goulburn Valley Football League and have been one of the most dominant. Only the Shepparton Football Club have won more premierships.
Their most successful era was the 1920s, when they won 5 premierships.
Kyabram has produced a number of AFL players such as Richmond’s Brett Deledio and Kayne Pettifer. Other players include former Melbourne & Victorian Captain Gary Lyon, Brisbane’s Patrick Wearden and Carlton’s Nick Holman.
Kyabram’s Chris Stuhldreier won the GVFL goal-kicking every season from 1991 to 1994, including a record setting 164 goals in 1993.
Dawes Road, Kyabram
Established in 1876, Kyabram is in the centre of a rich irrigation district in the Goulburn River Valley in Victoria, located 200 km north of Melbourne. It is situated between the towns of Echuca and Shepparton and is close to the Murray River, Goulburn River, Campaspe River and Waranga Basin. The name of the town is thought to derive from an Aboriginal word Kiambram, meaning “Thick Forest”.
