Officially nicknamed the Hawks, but also popularly known as the Bayers, Apollo Bay has participated in a number of different competitions over the years, including the Apollo Bay Football Association and the Otway Football Association.

The Bayers joined the Colac and District Football League in 1972 after previously competing in the now defunct Polworth League which included Lorne, Winchelsea and Queenscliff.

Location
Apollo Bay is a coastal town in southwestern Victoria, situated on the eastern side of Cape Otway, along the edge of the Barham River and on the Great Ocean Road. It is located 191 km southwest of Melbourne and 69 km south of Colac. It is now a tourist destination, though it is smaller and quieter than other nearby places such as Lorne. It is also host to the annual Apollo Bay Music Festival and the Great Ocean Sports Festival.
