The club has a long history that has not been without its problems, but has also spawned a reasonable amount of success. On occasion the club has even had to go into recess, and from 1980 until 1990 it was merged with Richmond, but it managed to overcome these difficulties and now competes in its own right in the Oatlands District Football Association.

Campania is a township in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. It is one of the most important wine-producing regions of Tasmania, and has had commercial vineyards since the mid-19th century. Richmond Road and the Tasman Highway both pass through Campania.
