About
The Far North Football League (formerly the Woomera & Districts Football League) is based in the far northern regions of South Australia.
The Woomera Football League (WFL) was formed in 1948. In 1986 it was renamed the Woomera & Districts Football League.
With the beginning of mining operations at Olympic Dam in the 1980s, the majority of the league’s clubs are actually located in the Roxby Downs area rather than Woomera, with the Coober Pedy Saints even further afield.

Location
Roxby Downs is a mining town in outback South Australia, located 563 km north of Adelaide. There are just two neighbouring towns in the area: Andamooka, an opal mining town about 30 km to the east, and Woomera, 84 km south of Roxby Downs. Roxby Downs is unique in South Australian history. Never before has a township and its administration been set up from scratch as a joint venture between the state government and a mining company.
