Location
Established in 1839 and located 40 km north of Adelaide, Gawler is the oldest country town in South Australia. It was named after the second Governor of the colony, George Gawler (1795-1869). Historically a semi-rural area, Gawler has been swept up in Adelaide’s growth in recent years and is now counted as a suburb.
