Milikapiti Oval, Milikapiti
Location
Founded in 1941 as Snake Bay, Milikapiti is located on the northern coast of Melville Island in the Northern Territory. In 1942 locals from Snake Bay captured Australia’s first Japanese prisoner of war, who crash-landed on Melville Island after his plane was damaged while bombing Darwin.
