The Billabong Crows were formed when the Oaklands and Urana Football Clubs, both of which had been long standing members of the Coreen Football League, elected to merge when that competition went out of existence after the 2007 season. The new club affiliated with the Hume Football League in 2008.

Urana is located between Lockhart and Jerilderie, about 125 km from Albury. Urana is the major town and headquarters of Urana Shire. The shire includes the localities of Boree Creek, Morundah, Oaklands and Rand. The Urana district is used for raising sheep and for growing wheat and other grain crops.
