Location
Grafton is a city in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. It is located on the Clarence River, on a floodplain, approximately 620 km north of Sydney and 315 km south of Brisbane. In 1851 Governor FitzRoy officially named the town Grafton, after his grandfather, the Duke of Grafton, who had served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1768 to 1770.
