Founded on June 11 in 1932, the West Footscray Football Club is a WFNL club based at Kevin Shorten Reserve in West Footscray. Known as the Roosters, the club has Seniors, Reserves, U18, U14, U12, U10 and Auskick.

Notable former players include Marty McDonnell (Footscray), Laurie Sandilands (Footscray & Collingwood) and Robert McGhie (Footscray, Richmond & South Melbourne).

West Footscray is a suburb of Melbourne, located 7 km west of Melbourne’s CBD. The Whitten Oval in West Footscray is the home ground of the Western Bulldogs. Barkly Village is a section of Barkly Street in West Footscray that hosts many local and ethnic grocers, stores and shops. The area has a long history of multiculturalism and includes many stores owned and operated by Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Anglo, Thai and Italian Australians.
