About
The Old Eltham Collegians Football Club, famously known as the Turtles, is a VAFA club, fielding successful Seniors and Reserves squads.

The club debuted in the VAFA’s newly formed G Section in 1986. The next season saw the club becoming a founder member, and inaugural premier, of H Section, winning the grand final by two straight kicks from Bulleen Templestowe.

Training out of the Eltham College private school facilities, including one of the finest private school sporting ovals in Victoria and a 25m indoor heated pool, the Turtles continue to build on their success since being founded in 1986.

Location
Research is a suburb of Melbourne, located 24 km northeast of Melbourne’s CBD. The unusual name arose from the gold rush era in Victoria, during the mid 19th century. Research was then known as Swiper’s Gully, but gold was found after the area was re-searched. Swiper’s Gully then became Research Gully, and finally, late in the 19th century, abbreviated to Research.
