Location
Maryborough is a city on the Mary River in Queensland, located 255 km north of Brisbane. The city is served by the Bruce Highway and is closely tied to its neighbour city Hervey Bay, which is 30 km northeast. Together they form part of the area known as the Fraser Coast. The name was derived from the Mary River which was named in 1847 after Lady Mary Lennox, the wife of Sir Charles Augustus Fitzroy, then Governor of the colony of NSW.
